How do I make money online? that's the question I get asked a lot. The answer, of course, is pick a HOT keyword - a money-making keyword and drive it to the top of Google.

See this chart? See the number of clicks the first position gets? Most of them. 42%. Thats based on some leaked figures from AOL a few years back but its probably still relevant. But the important thing is - the first three positions get most of the traffic - so that's where you want to be. Thats where you can get 10,000 unique visitors a day - and a good number of them clicking on your ads or affiliate links.

If you can get #1 spot for hot keywords like "make money online" or "how to make money" or even "making money" - you're in the money and "making money online". LOL.

The top website for those keywords - "make money online" is probably making $25,000 - $30,000 a month. Insane eh! How's he doing it? Good SEO and backlinks. Backlinks to authoritative and relevant sites. Google will reward you with good position in SERPS. And its really only Google you want to worry about - they have 65% of the search traffic. It's them and daylight. Yahoo only has about 16%.

Based on this data, if you're ranking 8/9/10 you may be able to increase your traffic for your keyword a whopping 1,400% by ranking in the #1 position. Isn't that incredible! Imagine the sort of money you could be making from some hot keywords? Even going from #8 to #3, say, can triple your traffic.

So coming back to it - How to make money online

You have to have a plan. You can't just whack up a site - call it "How to Make Money Online" and hope to get it to the top of Google. You need to have some decent content for starters. You need to have good "anchor text" (your keywords in the link) and you need to have plenty of backlinks.

The #1 site for "Make money online" keywords has over 100,000 backlinks. He obviously knows what he's doing. He probably builds links every day just to maintain position. And dcenet backlinks at that. From sites with high Pagerank and that Google approves of. Google has tightened right up on how they gauge websites. Their new Google Farmer Algorithm update is slamming sites that are spammy or have low-quality links - in their words "don't add to the user experience".
Making Money Online Means Good SEO

To get good postion on Google you need to optimize your site. But contrary to what so-called “SEO Experts” would have you believe, there's no “Big Secret” to Search Engine Optimization. Its all about quality backlinks and good on-site search engine optimization (something that this Squarespace host is very good at BTW).

I've said this elsewhere on the net - bq. SEO isn't a black art. Its not voodoo or magic or blackhat. It's not so much manipulating the search engines as it is presenting your site in the best possible manner – making it easy for the search engines to index you and rank you properly.

To make money online with your website you must be on the first page of Google. End of story. And preferably in the first 3 results. And if you're in position #1 – for a decent money-making keyword - you're in the money.

Like I said, some of these keyword phrases can make you a fortune if you can get in the top three spots. But be warned - the competition is fierce. From SEO people who really know what they're doing. But if you want to have a crack at some money terms - here's some of them - "ways to make money", "How to make money online", make money" and the good old "Make money online".

Make money online - how do you do that?

This is an experiment more than anything. I'm wondering just how much juice this blog has. Where will this post show on the Google SERPS? Do I have enough backlinks to get it on to the first page of Google/Yahoo/Bing? We shall see.

Every day more and more people are looking for ways to make money online. A lot of people have lost their jobs or are unhappy with working 40 hours a week for a fixed wage. Working online can be an ideal alternative way to make money without the 9-5 grind of a regular job - "working for the man".

So I'm posting this to outline some ways to make decent money online - without having to resort to paid survey-taking or other nebulous online money-making methods.

We'll be covering a hosts of ways to work online with your computer - including affiliate marketing, where there's the potential to make a lot of money with very little outlay. All you need is a website, some hosting and a decent product to promote. Preferably one that pays 75% on a high end product selling for $2000 or so.

We'll also have a look at ebooks - have they jumped the shark?

And what about those ubiquitous Forex Robots? Are they the real deal or just another "how to make money online" scam?

This will be very interesting. You know how many results there in Google for the keywords "make money online"? 359 Million. Amazing eh?
