DELTA Flight 6499 - 7 hours on the Tarmac Alone!

300px-Delta_logo.svg.pngGreat Publicity for DELTA airlines - the second or third biggest airline in the world. And they've only just come out of a Chapter Eleven bankruptcy too.

Delta Flight 6499 JFK to DFW on June 25 2007 experienced more than just a routine delay...for seven hours the plane was stuck on the ground while maintenance was carried out and crews taken on and off. During that time No Food was provided to the passengers - not even for the children aboard.

After re-arranging the deckchairs on Delta earlier this year, some bright Advertising jerk came up with a brand-new slogan - "Change Is:__________"(in which the blank was filled according to the context of the slogan's usage) as their slogan. Hmmm....perhaps their new slogan should be "Customer Service is:___________"

I remember this day. This flight was not the only one out there, there were about 100 others. Customer service is important, however, customer service and Delta could not do a thing about this flight on this particular day. United, USAir Delta, Northwest could not do a thing about any of their flights which were stuck on the ground. If you want to blame someone, blame the designers of the airport for not building a bigger terminal.

One other interesting bit of information... After this incident the "producer" of the video called up Delta demanding free round trip first class tickets to Europe for he and his girlfriend. He was denied.
